The term "permaculture" is derived from "permanent" and "agriculture." It focuses on perennial crops rather than annual ones, and has 3 main tenets:

1. Care of the earth.
2. Care of people.
3. Return of surplus.

Our farm is designed around permacultural principles - every element on our farm has multiple functions, and every function is served by multiple elements. This allows our farm to be remarkably self-sufficient. We rely on very little in terms of off-farm inputs. Almost everything we utilize is produced on-farm.

In the spring of 2015, Geoff completed a Permaculture Design course with Geoff Lawton of the Permaculture Research Institute in Australia. He is now certified as a Permaculture Design Consultant and combined with his background in farming and his university training in Biology and Environmental Studies is highly qualified to help you design your property to produce all of the food, water, and energy needed for your family while enhancing your property for both humans and wildlife.

We can help make your property your own personal paradise!

We work with your property, your ideas, and your needs to create a property that works for you, rather than the other way around. We can design water collection and storage, energy production, and highly-productive food systems that operate in sustainable ways.

Here are some types of properties that we have designed:

1. Urban and suburban lots - typically 1/10 to 1/2 acre in size, we can create systems through which an area of this size can produce almost all of the food needed to support a family along with the energy and water systems to make them sustainable.

2. Small acreage - anything from a couple acres up to 10 acres. A property of this size has a great deal of potential both for providing the needs of a family plus income potential from the sale of surplus products.

3. Larger acreage - small farms and ranches up to a few hundred acres, such as our own farm. These sites provide loads of opportunities not only for food and income production, but also for habitat restoration. New opportunities emerge at this scale, such as farm forestry and integrated large livestock production - all sustainably managed in a manner that benefits the environment and produces more and more over time.

4. Bug-out locations - A number of prepper-types have been pleased with the designs that we have created for them. They want to create locations that can be left untouched for long periods of time and then be ready to support their families when needed. We can do that, all in a secure manner.

5. Hunting acreage - Is wildlife habitat your primary concern? We can work with your property and design systems that attract and hold large numbers of game species using low-maintenance and productive plant ecologies.

We are also happy to design any other type of property that you may have.

Price is determined by the number of hours spent working on the project. Please shoot us an email and let us know what we can design for you.
